The Rapides Public Defender’s Office is dedicated to providing compassionate, zealous, high-quality legal advocacy to the citizens of the community. We strive for the pursuit of justice and protection of constitutional rights of those facing criminal prosecution within the 9th Judicial District and the lower courts throughout Rapides Parish.
The attorneys and staff employed by the office render legal services to individuals who are accused of public offenses, and who cannot afford to retain the service of a private attorney. We also represent persons under the age of 16 who are charged with criminal offenses and/or persons involved in Family in Need of Service (FINS) cases. Additionally, we provide counsel to parents facing Child in Need of Care (CINC) and Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) cases.
We employ highly skilled attorneys who are committed to vigorously seeking justice for each client, regardless of the nature of the case against them. Our well-trained staff endeavors to treat each client and family member with respect while providing expert legal services.
