What We Do

The Public Defender Office plays a necessary and integral role in the administration of the judicial system in Rapides Parish. Its attorneys proudly ensure that the Constitutional rights of their clients are protected and strive to provide expert legal service with minimal cost to the client.
JUVENILE COURT

Children under the age of 17 at the time of the alleged offense are considered juveniles in Louisiana. When charged with committing delinquent acts (criminal violations), they appear before a district court judge in the Juvenile Division. Juvenile Court is located on the 6th floor of the Rapides Parish Courthouse. All juvenile proceedings are closed to the public and only those having a matter before the court are allowed in the courtroom.
